High Performance Early 'Wing Needed for TV Show

#1

Post by randakk »

Question: I've been approached by a Producer / Editor of a major magazine. They're doing a new TV show / YouTube Channel focused on motorcycles.

They have a story idea that would involve: "Disguising ourselves as old men and taking a "sleeper" high-performance Gold Wing to the drag strip to see what might happen."

They were interested in using my supercharged GL1000 for the project, but that bike was sold a few years ago.

They don't have enough time to build a bike for the show, so they are looking to "borrow" a suitable bike.

Does anyone know anybody on the West Coast that has a supercharged, turbo or otherwise high-performance (maybe dual Weber) early 'Wing that might be interested in having it / them featured in a TV show?

Please let me know (privately) if you know anybody who might be interested.

Thanks in advance.

Are these folks looking to actually race the bike down the strip, or just use it as a static prop for their production?

They want someone to full bore thrash their bike while they film it? for the purpose of making money?
what's in it for the bike owner?

There is not enough time to build a bike? what's the rush?
I wouldn't think that it would take someone with randakk like skills very long at all to bolt together a bike
just to run at the dragstrip.

Sounds like an interesting tv program, I'd probably watch it.

To clarify:

Looking for a bike available now. Not looking for a bike "to be built."

Thanks.

Never say never, but you did give it the collage try. Hard to understand the lack of response.

I can understand the lack of response. One puts their heart, soul, energy and money into bike and a production company want to thrash on it......

I agree. I did a three day shoot with my 78, for a production company that worked for the discovery channel. Got a hotel room, that I was never re-reimbursed for, a couple of free meals, a tank of gas, and a thankyou. Well, actually, I don't even remember a thankyou. And the shoot was 600plus miles away. One way. And despite several attempts to contact them, they never responded to any. I would never do it again without money up front. At least expenses. Lesson learned :IDTS:

Money up front does change the risk a bunch. Good point Doug.
