1984 GL1200 Solo Saddle - OEM Honda

#1

Post by Paddy O'Doolin »

I had a couple questions about my saddle that I had on my GL1200 intro thread, viewtopic.php?f=15&t=66033

Yes, it is an OEM 1984 GL1200 seat. OEM Honda everything, EXECEPT mounting hardware.

Over the course of several, or more, Coors Originals, over several weeks, I kept staring at the stock two-up seat, and the seat kept telling me, "Cut me here, stitch me there, add brackets here and here, and I will be an OEM Honda solo saddle..."

So that is what I did. Here are few pics. Pan, seat foam, and cover all original from Honda, circa 1984. I fabbed up the internal and external mounting brackets out of scrap from the shop floor.

That's a very cool piece of trick chopping, I can't even work out where the join or cut would be. Nice job.
