I am trying to get my seat pan right before I get it upholstered and I am looking for some input. My dad says it looks like I need to add a little extra material to the back of the pan before I take it in. Anyone on here with custom upholstery experience or just seen a lot of custom seats, outside of cafe racer style? I’m looking for input and opinions from all.

No seat making experience but I’ve sat in a few. It looks like you have about 1/4” of padding in your backside (and thanks for making me look at it intently) and that’s way less than every seat I’ve been on that has been remotely comfortable.

I agree with you Dad. It don’t look right.

I agree. Your legs look plenty long enough that some extra padding would be a good thing. You backside will thank you on your first long ride.

Thanks for the input. There’s no padding on there yet. This is just the seat pan.

Depends a bit on your height. If you’re 6’8”, it’s probably pretty good.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I figured it would be good to empty the fuel I had sitting in the tank to see if there was any water or other contaminants. When I tried to pull my fuel tank no amount of twisting, pushing, or pulling could get it past the starter motor due to the mounting bracket that is welded on the frame. I took the angle grinder to it and the tank came right out. I had some 1/4 inch stock laying around that I’m replacing it with should I need/want to remove the tank again I won’t have to try and squeeze the tank out of some wild impossible path.

New fuel filter put in and I took the opportunity to try and clean up the wheels. It’s going to take some elbow grease and time that I am not sure I have just now. I’ll just knock the top layer off and address it once I get out to my house after I retire.

I started to fabricate mounting hardware for the rear fender. Still need to work on mounting the gauge.
