Hats off on this one. Well done! I believe you are the first one that I’ve seen who actually incorporated the original digital dash of the 1200 Aspencade. Most people chuck it.

Re: 86 1200 Aspencafe
I like the digital gauges, the way they look, having a fuel and temp gauge and the fact they are original equipment. I'm struggling with the housing though, the bulkiness...I don't like it. I'm going to go to an 8" headlight to see if that helps make the gauge housing seem smaller.
I may change to round gauges down the road, probably not till winter though. I'm making a couple more changes then I'm just going to ride it till winter and maybe make a few more then. I'm hoping to get it inspected next week or the week after. I've scheduled the last week of September off work to ride the hell out of it.
I've been working on lowering the rear fender and some grab bars that run from the shock bolt to the seat bolt then extend back for the rear signals to mount on. Makes the signals a bit wider and higher, so they line up nice with the tail/stop light. Just makes them look better I think. It also covers the bit of frame you can see under the seat and most importantly gives me something to hold on to when putting it on the center stand.

Not sure I'm happy with them, they're straight with the frame rail but not the seat....hmm.

If you're interested, I found some LED instrument lights for the 1200A LCD instrument cluster.
the LEDs are labeled as T5.
hard to see, but there are three SMD LEDs total. they fit perfectly and work awesome. very nice upgrade. shown here next to the OEM 12V, 3W lamps.the LEDs are labeled as T5.

Thank for the Information.

Re: 86 1200 Aspencafe
Got a bigger headlight and fly screen on it this weekend. Still not loving the gauge box. I'll be looking for an alternative this winter. I'm wanting to pull the valve covers to strip the clear and polish, will that require new gaskets? Some tank badges are up next I think. Oh ya it is inspected now too. Vacation next week.

Lookin good.
Should be able to reuse the valve cover gaskets ... might need new rubber thingies on the bolts ...

Re: 86 1200 Aspencafe
The headlight came from alchemy parts. I couldn't seem to find one that size w/chrome mesh and a dot approved lens in the us. I thought it was humorous I had to order it from England.

The fly screen I ordered from amazon.

They look good together I think.
