This is my first post, but I gotta say, I'm loving your build. I'm in the process of stripping down my 87 aspencade as well. Maybe this idea wouldn't be bad for the gauge cluster, it's where I plan to put mine; however, I do think I may do a small bezel on the triple tree for my "idiot" gauges/lights (fuel/temp, a blue LED for high beam and and green LED for neutral). But again, some great inspiration here! I hope the picture works.excildor wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 5:48 pm Got a bigger headlight and fly screen on it this weekend. Still not loving the gauge box. I'll be looking for an alternative this winter. I'm wanting to pull the valve covers to strip the clear and polish, will that require new gaskets? Some tank badges are up next I think. Oh ya it is inspected now too. Vacation next week.

Re: 86 1200 Aspencafe
Welcome to the forum!
I thought about doing that, I'd already painted my shelter though. I feel like the 1100 shelter's top door is a bit more narrow, it would still work. I'm hating the gauge box less and less the more time I spend on it, I may just leave it as is. I do love this bike. I tried to make a video of riding thru town the other night but my phone didn't capture the exhaust well at all, I'll try again soon.

I forget if it was in the post, but how hard was it to adapt the 1100 faux tank? I'm going back and forth between trying to take the one from my 83 parts bike or modify the 87 aspy one

Great job on the rearsets ... make my knees get sore just looking at them ... my wrists just cheer from the sidelines ...

An 1100 shelter is easy to adapt, just new rear mount and a front tab on the left and right. I did take off some of the brackets that hold electrical connectors under there. I'd say it is much easier to use the 1100 shelter.
The Rear sets.....my hips love them, my shoulders not as much lol.
