Great photos and story, John!
BUT, you had me seriously wondering about the statement, "a few of us had a first time local meet/ride to the badlands"

Until I performed a google search for badlands, and subsequently found a Cheltenham Badlands in the Ontario province, I had erroneously processed that the Badlands region in the mid-western United States had been your destination.

And our main man, Ascot (Pete). His energy and organising ability, the amazing hospitality of both he and his lovely wife Sharon, the trip we took to show me Niagara Falls; nothing was too much trouble. My friend, I'm forever in your debt!
ascot of course, summed it up well..

It was an honor to be part of your epic adventure. These trips (and this club) are what life is all about. Great friends, great rides and great memories. Paris was an amazing weekend full of "firsts"! Your trip up here, Johns first trip to Canada, first time for NGW to be part of the Paris rally. Good times had by all ....

I wish I could have made it this year too, but too many things conspiring against me getting across the Pond until at least next year.

Although it's presently 2017, I was checking out the CanadianVintageMotorcycleGroup website last night, and found photos, and, a ~3 minutes video of the 2016 Paris Ontario Rally.

It was a Real Good Time last year, so I checked out the 2016 Paris Ontario Rally photos, first.

Then, upon viewing the 2016 Paris Rally video for the very first time, I kinda caught my breath at the 18th second of the movie show.

Captured, for posterity, in all its' glory.
Judging by the large number of interested passersby, your trike was a big hit.

You have every right to be proud of that bike, Cliff.

Nice video. Lots of very desirablebikes (Along with lots of ....not so much!) I would love that orange Laverda - great bikes.
But who would paint a vintage Ariel powder blue? Sacriledge!

So very fulfilling to have rode our GL's in the surrounding area, with my fellow Canadian NGW members, and learning about the Velocette marque that were on display when we stopped at the Varney estate.
I'd heard the name, Velocette, quite a few years ago, but they were rarely seen in my neck of the woods.
The Varney family were selling dealers of the Velocette brand for quite a few years. (perhaps decades?)
Old Fogey could probably fondly recount tales of their legendary existence, too. tumb2

500cc Velocette was the first bike to average 100mph for 24 hours. Legendary for being extremely difficult to kickstart as the starter gearing was way too low. Strangest clutch that you ever did see; clutch was inboard of the final drive sprocket. The beautiful 500cc Venom Thruxton was a genuine 110mph bike, which for it's day was remarkable. Great handling bikes too, my mate owned a 500 MSS for while.

I had gathered that was most likely your Yellow, Sandy! ;)

My trip to Paris in 2015 was a whirlwind experience in 2015, so I didn't get into the building where the GL1000 marque examples were being celebrated. Also, I don't believe we "knew" each other yet, as well.
Last year, I enjoyed the company and conversation of most of the attending NGW members under the Club canopy, and didn't venture into that same building, again.
But, if I'm correct, we did ride with Ascot, Rat, Millwright, your same stock Yellow and my trike to Varey's.
Then, you and the standard Yellow took up residence in the display building, again?

note----
Depending upon several items, I may be coming to Paris again this year, afterall, Sandy. ;)
Is the DeltaWing accompanying you?
