2021 NGW Eastern Region ride -- Sept. 14-16, 2021

We will have the 2021 NGW Eastern Region ride in Slade, KY, some of the most beautiful riding country in the USA. We will ride in the Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge areas of Kentucky. Eastern Kentucky offers so many beautiful winding roads, limestone cliffs, waterfalls and well groomed roads. Everyone seemed to enjoy it so much last year that we are going to have it there again. 2021 promises to be another real treat for NGW riders. We will vary the rides a little, but the scenery is still spectacular and the hotel is great!

Because of the Covid 19 issues, we had a smaller group in 2020, but it was enjoyable anyway. We missed a lot of you!!

What: 2021 Eastern Region NGW Ride
When : September 14-16, 2021 (most will arrive on Tuesday, the 14th and leave on Friday, the 17th)
Where: Headquartered at the L’il Abner Motel, 1000 Natural Bridge Road, Slade, KY 40376
Website: http://www.lilabnersmotel.com

Motel phone and reservations: 606-663-5384 (mention “NGW Club“ for rate of $60/night for a 2-bed room )
Each person is responsible for making their own reservations. We have negotiated a rate of $60/night for rooms with two double beds. So if you double up, that is only $30/night, each. Each room has free internet, a refrigerator and a microwave. Other room combinations are available. See their website for more information.

Camping is also available about a mile from Li’l Abner Motel at the Whittleton Campground, a part of Natural Bridge State Park. It is in a Kentucky State Park, so they do not allow alcohol. 606-663-2214 for reservations. There are BEARS in this area.

For those who have arrived by around 6:00PM on Tuesday, we plan to have a bowl of chili so you don’t have to get back on your bike. We also have two fun rides planned; one for Wednesday and one for Thursday. Each will be around 100 miles with a lunch stop included. Wednesday’s ride will include a trip through the famous (or infamous) Nada tunnel, a ride through the Red River Gorge, some twisty roads through rock formations, and a lunch stop. Thursday’s ride will include many curves, twisties and a lot of scenery. The rest of the time will be free time for you to explore the surrounding area, or just sit by the fire and chat with your friends. You may want to plan on spending an extra day or so in the area…there is so much to see.

Powell County is NO LONGER a dry county, and there is a carry-out store next door according to Bill Abner. The Motel assures us that there are no restrictions on consumption at the motel, inside or outside.

We will have a Hamburger and Bratwurst cook out on Thursday evening at the shelter house with all of the food and drinks (except alcohol) provided. Coffee will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at the motel.

EVERYONE IS INVITED! We love to see first time members at these meets. Although Naked Goldwings are the subject, you can ride anything to these events!

Get your reservations into the Headquarters Motel NOW! See you at the 2021 NGW Eastern Region Ride!

Ken was the receiptant of the "got the bad service award" one morning.

I ate there all 3 mornings and will return as happy as I was when I left the last time.

the last morning, we ate, then split to go our own ways home. I realized about 12 miles up the road, that I had failed to leave at tip. I turned around and went back, the waitress was shocked that I came back and told me it was not necessary, but it was to me.

3 hours later, kama comes back to me in this way. I stopped just north of Kings Island at a road side rest to pee. At that time I came out, my rear tire was flat. But being safe and off the road, I rang my wife, and she came to my rescue. With a spare rim I had in the shop.

I did not hear about the trip back for the Tip but I did hear about the back tire. Speaking of which I have one I need to get mounted in the shop now. I think with this knee maybe I will take it down and pay to have it put on the rim. Have not done that in forever!

Ya, I need to get a new Met'z for that rim too.

My bill was like 9 something and all I had was a 20, she gave me back a 10, and I was talkin' and not payin attention. So bad on me....

I had the biscuits and NO TASTE gravy. It was like flour and water mix.

I will try and make this one. My DR. says I should get out and ride. I've had my first Covid-19 shot and get my second on 2/24.
I am now living in an apartment in the basement of my daughter's and sil's home. I am also now a widower. Paulette died December 1st which just happened to be our anniversary. Our daughter Candy had been quarantined for 2 weeks and when she climbed in the window and said goodbye, Paulette took one last breath and died. The home had been under quarantine but Paulette had not been out of her room, thus the climbing through the window. I miss you all!!!! Claude

So sorry to hear about your wife. I think of you every day. When I open the fridge in my shop. I STILL have a half empty bottle of margarita mix that you left the last time you were here. When I see it I have to smile, remembering the fun we had when you were here. It would be one one my greatest pleasures if I could see you at the rally. Be strong my friend.
