Certainly possible. For those that may not know Back of the Dragon is route 16 from Tazewell down to Marion Va.

This is a more realistic motorcycle ride to Tazewell and back. According to my Garmin GPS software this takes 4.5 hours to ride. I've ridden, at one time or another every road on this route and realistically once you factor in break, fuel and food stops you are looking at an all day ride. Pretty ambitious for a bunch of old retirees like us  But, if that's what you want to do....

Too ambitious for me, but there looks like a couple of ways I could shorten it …

have done that and yeup, all day. somewhat shorter but another possibility is going through hillsville, then 11 into pulaski, eat lunch there, and meander some back roads back. There is a fun HUMP on 11 into Pulaski, with and cool overlook

some other fun stuff going down the parkway about 35 miles is the bluegrass music center, which usually has afternoon locals playing bluegrass.
