Yes...and you have to knock off some of thathalbritt wrote:... I'm assuming that your speedo is in km/h (got it up to 140?)

Nope. Second.and you were in 3rd gear?

That depends on the applicaton. The wiring harnesses used for the Shuttle and the Space Station are all terminated in couplers. On most cases, the pins in the couplers are first double crimped, then soldered, then additional layers of wire support similar to shrink wrap is placed along the wire, then it's potted into the connector, and then a jacket is placed on the entire harness.halbritt wrote:One would assume that soldered connectors would be ideal, but it turns out that they aren't. 27 years I worked on Helicopters as an Aviation Electronics Tech for the US Navy. To attach 2 wires together a crimp connection was considered a "temporary repair" to meet the flight schedule. At the end of the day you would cut out the crimp splice and do a solder repair. A good solder connection cleaned with a bit of Alcohol ( to remove flux residue) then a layer of heat shrink was considered a permanent repair.modernbeat wrote:That depends on the applicaton. The wire support layers are really key. For homebuilt stuff, two layers of tapered shrinkwrap over crimped and then soldered connections is almost overkill.
I thought it might have been second, but I had difficulty believing it. It looks like you wound it out over 10k rpm?octane wrote:Yes...and you have to knock off some of thathalbritt wrote:... I'm assuming that your speedo is in km/h (got it up to 140?)

Yep. As I said ; the rev-counter lags behind, halbritt wrote:....
