Octane,
Enjoyed all the great pictures and documentary of the Bulldog....what a great project !!!!! What a great motorbike !!!! (applauses)
Question....You might of said and I didn't catch it, but.......How far did you lower the front of the bike, total inches from stock?
Did you have to change the pre-load, or springs and or the fork oil to accommodate for the added flex in the sidewall of the bobber type wheels?
Does it ever bottom with the short suspension travel? (against the bottom mount I mean)
I also presume that most of the lowering was done by sliding the fork into the triple clamps. Sure looks damn good........love it and would love to know more. THANKS

As I recall I lowered it 1" in the front fork
and
the rim/tire size was lessened
going front from 17" to 15" (= minus 2", which lower the front 1")
So 2" total,
and
going rear from 16" to 15" (= minus 1", which lower the rear ½"))
NoDid you have to change the pre-load, or springs and or the fork oil to accommodate for the added flex in the sidewall of the bobber type wheels?
No (...er....not yet).Does it ever bottom with the short suspension travel? (against the bottom mount I mean)
Yes it has 1" lesser travel
or distance from wheel axle to bottom mount you might say,
but on the other hand the wheel is 1" smaller in radius,
so in fact I've got same distance
'top' of tire / underside of bottom mount,
as originally.
...which BTW is, sort of, spoiled by the fact
that I've added a fork brace.

I DO like the shape of my seat very much
but I never really liked the, kind of, cheap looking
plastic with which it is covered.
Finally got hold of this seventy-something years old guy who is
a retired auto-upholster who has done some great
MC seats for some of my friends.
To cut a looong story short;
turns out that he, more than fifty years ago,
as his first job ever,
worked in MY WORKSHOP for 7 years.
Back then they used to drive the cars right in here
and his job was to make custom upholstery.
So he dropped by a couple of weeks back
and maaaan was he all happy and sentimental to see the place.
He's a real nice and kind guy
...yesterday I finally got around to
get the seat off the bike and bring it , and my BSA-seat
to his small basement workshop.
along with my drawings of how I wanted it done.
This morning he calls me and the seats are ready (!!!)
How's that for working fast ?!!...this guy's great
(on the pic it is not attached yet, so it's not set properly up to the "tank")
and the BSA seat:
..all for the pricy sum of around 75$US per seat
including materials.

Hi Octane!
I would like to thank you for your tip on the LUIS's (EXORZIST) exhausts...they don't ship to USA but I have them shipped to Spain so a friend of mine are going to bring them in a month or so...
Can I ask you something else?...
I'm planning to buy a 1978 GL 1000 wich is in very good condition for this project...Do you think that I can switch hubs and wheels of my 1977 GL 1000 with that 1978?..I preffer the wire wheels than the mags...
Thanks!
THESUPERSTONE
PS: The new upholstery on the seat looks awesome!

and I've been abroad for a while.
I'll post a few pics of the mountings when I put
the seat back on, in a couple of days.
