Buying Belts
Hey guys I see in almost every thread I read replacing belts is mentioned. I got to looking around for them online and found most are made by Gates. Gates makes a lot of belts for everything, a large company. Anyways the machine shop I work in is attached to a Napa store my boss owns. I checked and since NAPA carries Gates, they can get the timing belts. For the GL1100 anyways, haven't checked other models but I'm sure they can get them.
The part number (for a GL1100) is 250274 and is $26.99. Thats almost half of what I've seen the same belt go for on some sites. They can get it from the warehouse next day too.
Just a tip if this hasn't been metioned before.

Re: Buying Belts
Personally, I would stick with OEM Honda, Gates, or Goodyear Gatorbacks. The Gates and Goodyear are American made. At this time, some Honda OEM parts are being made in China, and I don't trust Chinese parts to last or work.
At this point in time, their quality and standards are near 1948 Japanese era. There is one well-known online Wing parts supplier, with a bad reputation, that shows Japan made belts in their ad, but what you get are Chinese made.

The difficult can be done in a day. The impossible takes a little longer, if you don't know it can't be done.

Re: Buying Belts
The cross over thread has belt numbers for all up to and including the 1500. I get mine at NAPA and pay just over $13 each for NAPA brand. Probably made by Gates.
