Can I run '79 carb rack on my '77

#1

Post by klux182 »

I just bought the 77 to replace the "locked-up" '79. The 77 has been sitting for 25 years. I want to use my "working carbs" from the 79 on the 77. I will deal with the original ones later.

Should work, but not as well as 77's. Rebuild them taking your time and you'll be happier. Read Randakks blog on mixing them.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

The 79 carbs are jetted slightly leaner and have slightly smaller bores to work with the later cams.

Regarding the washer..I suppose turning the bike upside down and shaking it is out of the question?
