KickStart Pivot Felt Rings?

#1

Post by rockyhayes »

Anybody by chance have a bead on these? They are #16 in the schematic, and otherwise appear obsolete. It's thus far been virtually impossible for me to determine if they are included with any of the aftermarket complete gasket sets...

They are dust seals and if yours are still in there I would just go with those on the refresh. I am not aware of any replacements that come in any gasket set.
Another option is the felt seals used on a variety of Honda rear brake plates where the shaft for the brake shoes comes through the plate and they are still available new from Honda. (ie) A 1978 CB550K has a rear brake plate with the felt seal that I just bought from Honda recently.
This seal will likely fit into that area on the GL1000. You may need to patch a couple together if the size is off and your seals are rotted away. It would serve the purpose and as noted they are dust/dirt seals for the kicker shaft only.

Honda part 43134-300-000 for $1.93 each from Partzilla or your favorite Hondas source.

Felt from a fabric store and a couple gasket cutters should have you set.
