Well I'm now a CX owner... a CX500 Turbo owner

for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.

Picked up a 1982 cx500 with some fairing dmg and other plastic damage last night.... I am pretty happy

I drove down to the States and stole this one from many of you, as it now Canadian,

It starts no problems, runs and drives, and other than the plastic is in pretty good shape,....now stuck in a debate of restoring it of just stripping it down ....you know.... naked...leaning on naked...

It may be cost prohibitive to bring back to stock... it would be stunning. I took one out for a test ride.. I was talk'n to God in seconds.. took it back to the dealer, toss's him the keys and told him I'm not that fast.

I had a 'normal' CX500 in 1981, from new. Went touring two up, panniers, top box, tank bag and rucksack, and still got a ticket in Switzerland. Not everyone's cup of tea, but converted several mates after taking them on the back! That was fast enough!

Previous Rides,
1980 CB250N Good to learn on
1981 CX500 good mid range tourer, went to Austria on it!
1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.

Welcome to the "twisted twins" side of the group. There are many of us who own the cx/gl bikes as well as the bigger GL's.
Be sure to look up the CX/GL Forum. lots of friendly folks and good advise to be found.

Congrats on the purchase as I have seen a few of those come up for sale here in Ontario in the $5-$7K range in top condition.
Here's a CX650E a Canadian and European only model that was a one owner bike that I restored a few years back. I love the way it handles and the extra power of the 650 motor.
