75 Rustoration underway

#1

Post by Redneckrickard »

Before leaving for the weekend and being sick Monday - Wednesday I had removed the seat saddle bags battery and trunk. Today I set to removing the gas tank in the process I removed the muffler, rear tire, rear fender, and rear brake system.

Finally before heading off to work (after my box of goodies from Randakk's came in!!!) I managed to get the tank out. I contacted my local radiator shop to see if the do motorcycle gas tanks and they do!! action1 I don't know if they've ever done a goldwing tank before  anyway more on that tomorrow!! Here is the inside of the tank:

I must say I was a little intimidated by this old girls carbs  lucky for me Randakk had a special on his carb kit that included his video after watching it I wasn't scared at all  so out to my garage I went!! Pulled the carbs and proceeded to give them a bubble bath

I was pleasantly surprised with how clean they were inside tumb2 however to put it in Randakk's words a Ham fisted individual had been into them before. Aside from apparently stripping half the float bowl screws and replacing them with flathead S.A.E. machine screws Ham fist managed to break not one but two of the idle air screws :happy_251:

Clark looks a little rusty too.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

What! There's another guy out there willing to rebuild a Goldwing? Ham Fist was a second cousin to Noah, & he nearly sunk the Ark.
And there's Clark, the shop assistant; no doubt he's named after Clark Kent.
If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

Genesis chapter 9:
20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

It all makes sense now them dirty Caananites lol

As cool as it would be for clark to be named after Mr. Kent he is named after William Clark, Captain Meriwether Lewis' Second Lieutenant.... A.K.A. Louis and Clark (my wife's dog was named Louie)
