Thinking I might just stay with the red color. It's not a bad looking color just wouldn't be my first choice and it will save me tons of work. Then I went to looking at paint kits with color matching and found out that was expensive. Two aerosol cans of color and one top coat was over $100. Did some research and found some dupli-color that matched for $17 a can. I found three different shades that are very close with two in stock and the third one (highly recommended) will need to be located. One of the two I did find was a shade darker and would probably work. I still have plenty of time since it's too cold to paint.

Tested my new handlebar switches today and it went very well. Got all the lights to work like they are supposed to with two exceptions. The start button does not kill the headlight while starting. It does however give me full control of the headlight. Also the 4 way flashers don't have a button on the new controls. I could easily add an additional switch and some wires but don't see the need. Still need to seal up the areas where the old and new cables mate and start hiding cables. Also applied another coat of primer on the shelter. Some wet sanding and they should be ready for paint.

Stopped by O'reilly's today and they will have some paint there tomorrow in the recommended color. If it is a good match I'll be ready, if not there is no cost. Finished mounting the controls and started hiding some of the excess wire (lots of wire to hide on both sides). Was looking through my stash for a headlight bucket. No joy. I'll post in the wanted section.

The paint is a very close match. The cap color was way darker than I expected. They offered to spray a little to see how the actual paint would look against the part in hand. Since it was still their dime I said yes. Happy to say the color was extremely close and brought 2 cans home. Now all I need is some warmer weather or a heated garage.

Wasted most of a nice day running errands with the wife. I did manage to pick up a headlight bucket and got the ring and bulb housing tied down. The bulb has a burned out low beam but that is easily remedied. Might have to move the brake line to make room. Anxious to see more progress as next will be to mount the cluster. I'm using the original cluster (at least for now). Removed it from the fairing, fabricated some mounting brackets and completely enclosed the unit to resist moisture. Just needs one more piece of plastic to tie the outer edges together. A little odd looking but very functional.

Haven't been able to do much in the sub freezing temps the last couple of days. I did get the headlight bulb sorted and the last piece on the cluster. Tomorrow I plan to bring the hard bags inside for some cleaning and cut some padding for the inside. Found a handheld steamer at a flea market for $3. Should help with cleaning in some of the nooks and crannies. Steamed some of the crud from the seat pan and it works pretty good. Can't wait till I can try it outside.

I felt like it was a good find. Used it today to clean the hard bags and side covers. Did a pretty good job cleaning with almost no mess or cleaning supply smells. It only uses water and the book says no vinegar. Good luck finding a used one like that, first time I remember seeing one in the wild.
