Mickeys wing part1

Some pics I took today. Can anyone guess what's under the tarp?
Image
Ooh! It's a "Winged" cycle! :-D
Image
A closer look at the engine.
Image
A view from the top.
Image
I can see I'll be needing a case of penetrating oil.
Image
Image
It's reasonably dry underneath.
This weekend I will start spraying down the rusty bolts, maybe start stripping the covers and saddle bags. At least there are no furry friends living in the airbox. :-D
Bye for now Mick

Fun project right there. I was stressing at how much work I took on with mine because its riding season and I am anxious to get it done. But, its alot of fun and when mine is done ill be glad i took the time to do it right. Youll feel the same when yours is done.

If i didn`t know any better , i think most Honda GL`s were built this way (rusty & crusty) & it take a caring person to fix & repair them into something the owner would be proud of. Good luck on the project ,what year 78??-79??

I see you are from the "Great White North". You might consider keeping the fairing and creating a setup where in an afternoon you can put it on or take it off. It will definitely extend your riding season. Good luck on your project, hope you have a warm and dry place to work on it this winter because if you are like me you'll still be working on it then.

Here are some innovative wiring techniques, the cooling fan works when you flick the switch. All I have to say is "I didn't do it"
Image
Amazing that a little fresh gas and a charged battery can make so much smoke, seems to be firing on all four, sort of idles too.
Image
The smoke is coming from the right bank, I haven't been able to hook up the compression tester need to make an adapter, I'm hoping it's nothing major, we'll see when the heads are pulled.
Having finally gotten around to spending time evaluating the total condition, I don't think any riding will happen this summer, would rather spend time now doing things right than rushing a possible unsafe condition.

I usually see wiring like that when I go to look at a Goldwing being sold as a parts bike. And I usually get the "it was running when it was parked" speech too. :-D
