I have been looking for a project for quite a while now and have finally found the perfect way to spend some time. I haven't been on a bike in 20 years, and after reading a few recent posts, it seems I am not alone. I'm older, wiser, and more responsible, so this venture would not have worked 10 years ago. I'm also working on an empty nest in a year, so there's that...transition into oldmanhood...starts here!
I took the front windshield and back storage off. It looks like the light just plugs in somewhere and I use the lamp from the front fairing. She came with all of the engine covers and some chrome to cover the carb area.
Here she is:)
Watch the walkaround...I'll add to that.

Brand new, fully charged battery, replaced the bone fuse with inline weatherproof lead, and cut out the bad bad bad crunchy white wire connectors.
Next step, I think, is to check all the grounds. I'm sure you guys have a list here somewhere:)

Re: Cleaner's 78 Wing Project
Welcome from Wisconsin. Looks like a good start to a good project! If you've figured out the dogbone issue and the three yellow wires/connector issue, you're already ahead... On the headlight, if the fairing is a Vetter, you might be missing the two rings for the headlight bucket. My Vetter had a plastic bucket and ring that doesn't work on the stock bucket. Oh, and change the timing belts!

Re: Cleaner's 78 Wing Project
Awesome, thanks for the welcome:)
I spent a bit of time looking things over. I followed the negative cable and found where it grounds to the engine. That connection might be the problem but not sure yet. It looked clean but its in between two pieces of chrome.
There are other grounds correct? Location?
I'll be researching all this week and tinkering in the evenings and actual time this weekend.
