It would depend on what type of line you are trying to lay with the tape. I have personally been using all of FBS tape products. I dig this tape they have that is very thin. It is not very flexible, so you can only get gradual bends. But it leaves barely any paint edge due to the thickness of the tape. It is a rice paper tape. I will get you the link. But in my experience with tapes, this company has way more flexibility than 3M products. If you are looking for something that you need to do some tight bends, I like their green tapes. Very similar to the blue 3m, but it does not rebound as badly if you leave on over night.
I would also add that the crispness of the edge will also have something to do with the surface you are taping on. Sometimes a topography will cause some subtle variances along the edge. If you are taping over anything metallic, always safer to throw some intermediate clear, or intercoat clear, then lightly sand. Or use a 2k clear to seal it all down. I generally will use a PPG product called DBC500. Matrix also makes a great product very similar, and a bit cheaper.
Here is a link to their site.

On a side note, if anyone is going to be at SEMA this year, I will be working for House of Kolor at their booth doing demos. Stop by and say hello.
