Pulling the caps and slides on the 1 & 3 carbs will make removal and reassembly easier. Mark the caps and slides to get them back to proper carbs.
Did you check float levels when apart?

Re: Martian Seeing Scarlet !!!
Well painting the wheels made my decision on paint,
Whatever you do dont use rustoleaum é tremclad to paint something you may want to redo later. stuff doesnt play nice with any other coatings, lost track of how many hours to get tank back down to no tremclad, razor blades and wetsand, what a nightmare... so off came back wheel, room in fender to pull wheel...win!!!
painted wheel, opened final for visual inspection, checked bearings,
back brakes toast, caliper fully extended and seized, cleaned and got pistons back in, hope ok and new pads on order
final drive painted, splines well greased, went back on much easier than i expected.
setting up to use single or step seat with refresment rack as attachment point if i need to put vulcan seat on
still out on whitewalls or blackwall, now with wheels red, i thought the ww would look right, but ièm leaning towards blackwalls
And in my spare time, bin working on possible insignia for tank sides,
I always liked the pinup girl look on warbirds
red background is to simulate red paint,
heres my forerunner, still a work in progress AND MY MIND NEVER CHANGES!!!

Re: Martian....Seeing Scarlet !!!
I'm liking were your headed. I wasn't much on the "rat" look myself. I like the red wheels, I'd vote for the white walls. Maybe paint the valve covers red too. Keep up the good work!

Re: Martian....Seeing Scarlet !!!
My opinion is...
The white-walls are great looking, especially on the red wheels. I vote for a white-wall on the front.
I really like the fenders, front and rear.
I agree with Dugg about red valve covers.
As for the seat options, I feel that a bike always looks its best with a solo seat. Just like a pickup truck though, I feel they look the best with a short bed, but the 8 foot bed is more "usable."

Re: Martian....Seeing Scarlet !!!
Re routed the throttle cables yesterday on lunch hour, they were pulling hard against forks on hard right turn
painted side covers satin black last night, see how i like today, may have to matt them to match fenders
Now that ive touched pretty well everything
Things i NEED to do
sync carbs
build sync tool
rebuild all three calipers
new rear brake pads
tires ??? WW or BW still out on that one
Seat recover
windshield...
may relocate ignition switch to side, aka Harley
So far i'm still under $500 on this build, bike included
biggest investment so far is time
So cool to be able to keep and work on bike at work, so hard to not be tempted during day to touch, owner rides hoggs, so hes right into my transformation

Re: Martian....Brake this !!!
Brake calipers all tore down. Cleaned repainted lettered and clear coated and back on. Working like a dream now. Just need brake pads for the rears
Now i am cheap and appolcoliptic sort a guy
Now when the end of the world comes you better be able to fix things, wont be able to buy parts. this was a meticulas cleaning of calipers and seals, 2000 grit paper lubed with brake fluid and dental pics, and a brake fluid bath on the seals, no new parts were used, i know, ya will all think i cheaped out in the worst place. no leaks and all working smooth as silk, will see in time if any leaks develop,

Looks really good, but is it wise not to put the belt covers on. Just thinking of all dirt that will go in there.
Previous Rides,
1980 CB250N Good to learn on
1981 CX500 good mid range tourer, went to Austria on it!
1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.

Well finally took a weekend off since buying this bike, need to recoup, every sat and sun and couple hours every night after work since i got it.
Few more small things to do, but most involve money...lol
My spend $$$ on this so far is minimal, hours in, too many to count
Man, i needed a rest from this
