I mentioned the fairing as a Christmas present to "she who must be obeyed"..she laughed and said I already got my Christmas presents..I'm so confused.

Re: poor mans bagger build
got a bit more done today. Shortened the other bracket for the left hand saddle bag and got them both mocked up in place.
Still waiting on my 10mm x 1.25 tap to finish the last mounting tab.
I also finally found a tail light I like that will go nicely with the round signal lights in the bags..which I'm hopefully going to replace with flush mount led lights.
I have an idea for filling the gap between the seat and fender as well but I'm going to keep that quiet in case it doesn't work.
I have to do some tweaking on the fender too to center it on the tire.

Re: poor mans bagger build
finally got my 10mm x 1.25 tap..so I could recut the threads in my "spacer".
I didn't go all the way through it as I can't buy 10mm x 1.25 bolts locally and well..because. lol
Hopefully tomorrow I will get the other spacer made and the tabs welded on to the saddle bag frame.
I think it's going to work good.

Hi George, any advance since November?
Mate has just come back from a family visit in Canada. I said you must know George in Nova Scotia then.
He didn't.

I haven't made much progress. I want to repair the cracks in the saddle bag but it's been to cold out in the garage.
Next on the list is order the fairing and mock it up, then strip all the body panels and take it all to get painted.
That will be it until the spring unfortunately as "she who must be obeyed" parks her car in the garage so I can't take up her parking space.

Re: poor mans bagger build
I'm paying particular attention to your thread 5speed, we in the cold North/East understand the value of a bagger with a fairing.
In all honesty, I love the look of a naked bike, but now that I've had a bagger for a couple years, I can't imagine riding without the bags. Socket and wrench sets, a quart of oil, a couple bottles of water for me or the bike, gloves, spare sweatshirt, etc., etc....
Half the days that I ride my bike up here, (Down here to some of you) it's 40*F in the morning when I leave the house and 70 or 80 degrees later in the day. So I want to remove clothing layers and store them in the bags.
