When's the best time of year to go out there? I hear it snows in the winter.
From about now through mid-May it's really starting to get pretty cool for bike trips to the canyon. Winter is quite cold. 7000 ft at the South Rim. Best time to beat the crowds and have good weather is September/October. Unless you go to the North Rim. Not really "crowded" any time. But even colder at 8000 ft. I did Astronomy Outreach at the North Rim for years.

Yeah....I'm really enthusiastic about the things that I am, and I share with everyone, lol. I forget who I did and didn't share with sometimes. Oh well. :p

I'd love to come visit. We can talk scopes, DSO's and Wings!

Any time! You should plan on an observing trip. Bring the Astrola! (I still check into CN occasionally).

But, this is a Goldwing forum. I've never been a fan of plastidip. The best thing about it is that it peels off...

Athena is a rat bike; the plastidip makes it so I can easily apply another coat if it starts to peel, while making it easy to make it look uniform; just add another layer.

And it peels off.

But mostly ease of use. I'm lazy... :p

And if I come out there, I'm gonna be riding, not driving. So I'll have to leave my Cave at home... ;)

It's all over....

Went for a dusk ride. Hit a deer going 50 mph. Cut it in half. I'm ok,but Athena is dead. Long live Athena....

I'm ok.

And let this be a poignant lesson in the importance of ATGATT:

Fer cryin out loud. That really sucks. So sorry about the luck. Actually, it seems you were lucky after all in that you weren't really hurt. Better a little rash than something else. I have some 30 year old rash residue myself.

And did you just post a photo of your butt?? Sheesh. Thought this was a family forum.

Seriously, sorry about the trouble and happy it wasn't too bad. Really disappointed for you especially considering yesterday's post...

Oh yeah! Gonna go either for a 75, or try to find a naked 1200. I love the wings. :)

And thanks all for the well wishes. Sucks about Athena, but I'm ok and that's what matters.

Also FOR SURE am gonna spend the money on an Aerostich Roadcrafter suit. After last night, gear is #1 on my list, lol.

Its gonna take more than me taking out Bambi to quit riding...

In this moment, I would like to take a minute to remember Bambi. And Athena. May Bambi's body provide nourisment for carrion eaters, may Athena's wrecked corpse serve as a reminder to wear gear, and let us all gather together in celebration of Zak deciding to get a 1500 F6 as his next bike, Amen!
