Spring time refresh

It's time to do some up grades to the look of my GL1100 and some performance and comfort ones too.
I'll be upgrading the front brakes with drilled rotors and a 14mm master cylinder with matching clutch perch and lever. New handle bars from a 2018 CB1100 and Randack grips. On the comfort side is a new Saddleman seat, hopefully more comfortable than the old stock one, not sure about the look though. And last if time allows will be the ultra glide mufflers. Speaking of look, I'm going for a "sport tour" look with the bike.

Test fitting mirrors to the fairing

So far the handle bars are proving to be a challenge. They are a bit lower than I thought. The holes that locate the switches were not in the right spot so had to drill new ones. That left barely enough room for the lever perches. I've got the clutch cable rerouted to take up the excess length, but the throttle ones are proving more troublesome. Also took the time to repaint the lettering on the controls.

The mirrors and carb. Dohicky things are painted and just need wet sanded an polished. This weekend I should get most everything back on.

I wish I had your painting skills. Nice work (except for the upside down photos)!

How do you like the LED auxiliary lights?
I have some old halogen ones in the exact same spot and was planning on swapping them out for LED's.

That's weird. On my iPad they are right side up, but on my desk top some are upside down?

Thanks, The paint is easy, Duplicolor rattle can followed by PPG two part clear coat. Wet sand out the dust with 1500 - 2000 grit, polish and good to go.

Right side up or not, your painting looks GR8. Very nice job so far.

They provide nice additional light, I do wish they shot a little further down the road though and were round instead of square. One of the main reasons I added them was how much more noticeable they make a motorcycle to oncoming traffic.

That is so true. Something about the triangular pattern - in addition to the extra light - takes visibility up dramatically.

Still appreciating your paint job. I went back and reviewed your earlier "Northwet" thread. Nice ride:

After messing with the CB1100 handlebars and getting the cables rerouted etc I've come the conclusion that the CB1100 must use the handlebar weights as a handgrip extension

Looks like the pics are right side up the last time. Let's see if I can make that happen again. Yesterday was productive. Got the Handlebars mounting done and cables rerouted. New front brake master installed and bleed. New grips. Wet sanded, polished and mounted the carb trim and mirrors. False tank back on, fairing and new seat. I'm still not sure about the look of the seat so it better be comfortable. Maybe I'll swap it on for two up riding and go with the other for "sport riding"

Okay I think I got all the pics right side up now. Nothing more scary than a upside down motorcycle!
