I found that I have some 1500 to use on the slides. Seems to be working fine.
Now I find a plugged idle circuit on #4. Since the pucks are not removable, is there anything you can think of to get junk out of those hidden paths. I just put carb cleaner into the idle jet port in the main body and am letting it soak. Then I'll hit it with 100# of compressed air and see what happens.

Are these plastic cups for the choke spring mechanisms still available? The one for carb three was missing.

A fine wire poked through the passages will loosen up dried up fuel deposits too, then spray and air blast to clear from the opposite direction of flow.

Yep, the plugged passages soaked clean with carb cleaner overnight. I used the water pik to flush them and then blew them clean. Next project? Get that tank out and clean it! Might as well put the new rear tire on as well as long as it's off!

On the scuffed slides, I forgot to mention Howard Halasz's tip about lightly chamfering the edges between the carb bore and slide bore, which is a common problem on 1100 carbs...

I did chamfer them, per Howard's suggestion. They're all back together, and I'm going after the rest of the fuel system, cleaning tank and replacing lines. But thanks for the heads up.

OK carbs are bench synced and ready to install on the bike. Next project is to coat the tank, or not. You folks have a preference? To coat or not to coat. That is the question.
The used filter case arrived today.
The rear caliper is leaking so new pistons and a rebuild kit are on their way.
I bought a boat kit at the 2016 Central ride - the Luckenbach Classic rally. After seeing Stuart Smith's 1100 with a sidecar on our facebook page, I got to be thinking that maybe this one might get the sidecar.
I know that there are a few members with sidecars on the 1200s but wondering how the 1100s handle a hack.

I would think that an '83 will be similar to a 1200 in that they have true cast wheels and most likely a better suspension

Rodger
That's what I was thinking. Of course if I get the hitch on it and it's roadworthy before Deadwood, it might be a while before it gets the sidecar. There are other projects ahead of it. so it's not moving up the list very quickly.

Tire time!
OK I can't find an available 120/90-18 whitewall for the front. I want a stout one, with reinforced sidewall, since I'd like eventually to hang a sidecar on this one. But so far nothing seems to be out there, BUT, I found a 130/70B18 69H Reinforced Shinko.
The big question - will it fit?
I'm looking to go with a 130/90-16 on the rear, which ought to give me a bit lower effective gearing without much to do.
Thoughts, anyone?

I used rubbing compound by hand on the side covers and look what I found!

Today's project is to mount the crabs and synch them up. I think I got the tank cleaned well enough, but I will bring alond a couple new filters just in case.
The seat I received from Ebay looks to be for a smaller Honda. After I get the false tank mounted, I can see what it looks like. I have an old ugly seat that will fit, but it is UGLY.
