82 Gl1100 Cafe Racer, Dual Weber idf 40's.

I posted for the first time in the Newbie forum. I've been lurking for a little over a year. My Gl1100 hadn't run in 9 years when I bought it but it only has 24,000 miles on it so I took a chance. I went through it from one end to the other. Rebuilt carbs, lapped valves and did valve seals, complete rebuild on brake system, timing belts, progressive fork springs and a ton of other stuff. Over the winter i plan to do a dual Weber idf 40 conversion. If there is anybody on here who has done that swap I would love to be able to pick your brain about it. The Webers are brand new, never been run but didnt come with the main jets, emulsion tubes, air correcters or emulsion tube holders. I'm anxious to know the sizing that works best for these parts. I've learned a lot on here although I haven't posted in the past. I'm a bit of an older guy and not all that computer savvy. I plan to update this as things progress. Thanks for looking!!!

Welcome! Several have done the Weber conversion. Curious, did you get the manifolds from Randakk? If so, guessing he hasn’t changed the info that came with them.

your pics that post sideways..it is a little idiosyncrasy with the site..you will drive yourself nuts trying to fix it. we are used to looking sideways. lol
what part of the frozen tundra are you in?

Very nice looking ride. Will be great with the dual Webers.
Bikes at present:

83 XL 600r with a 2004 XR650L engine
And a slightly worse for the wear BMW GS adventure bike awaiting repair

I bought the carbs and manifolds from someone in a private deal, so no information came with them. I think the Randakk carb setup was on GL1000. I was hoping there was someone that had done an 1100 that was happy with their setup could share their setup to get a starting point. I’m sure I’ll have to do some trial and error to get it dialed in.

Ya, I was a little surprised when it loaded that way. I’m in Alberta just outside of Edmonton.

The 1100 is about the same. Funny enough, those manifolds fit on all the 4 cylinder engines... currently putting a set on a 1200 that found a home in a 1000 frame.

Have you sorted out what you are going to use for main jets, emulsion tubes and air correctors, at least as a starting point.

Making some progress on the swap. Out with the old and in with the new. As far as the advice I was looking for, Randall Washington has helped me out. I would still like to connect with others that have done this swap if you're out there. I think I'm going to like this. If it runs. Lol

Thanks!!! I appreciate the comment. I loved the look the first time I saw it. I believe it was on Randall Washington’s GL1000 before he put in the Supercharger. Can’t wait for next spring now. Hopefully I have any bugs out by then.
