spoked wheels

#1

Post by gdonlo04 »

i saw a restoration project where the person purchased rims from the uk that came off a side car. i want a thicker tire on my restoration in the front and i want spoke wheels. i have 2 sets of spoke wheels. can i take the back rim and place the front hub and have new spokes installed. i see the specs are Front tyre: 3.50-19
Rear tyre: 4.50-17 .
how else can i achieve this. two fat tires on the bike the same size in the front and back?

Here's my bike with a 140/90 16 rear and a 130/90 16 front. Both are on Harley Davidson 16x3" rims .

To be clear, the front & rear hubs are standard issue 1975 gl1000, only the rims are HD 16" x 3". Using custom spokes from Buchanan you just lace them up. These are however mounted on a 82' 1100.

My header pipe, I believe is early Jardine, the muffler is a universal muffler sold everywhere. Google "slash up swept muffler'
As to the front wheel, the circumference is actually smaller then the original tire. I know of no benefit of this set up, but I must run the pressure high to prevent cupping. Oh and my Speedo is off a ton.
