Looking cool! Interested in the flyscreen, is it a Dart Martin and if so what bike was it actually designed to fit? Thanx

I haven’t been on the forum in a long time... obviously the bike was put away for winter and wasn’t high on the priority list. If you happen to see this, here’s the flyscreen link. It’s generic for a 7” headlight.

Will order one, for that price even if I reuse the brackets can't go wrong. Was thinking of trying to design my own out of an old windscreen but will wait and see now. Thanks for the link, neighbour.

In the fall, after getting the bike together and putting a few hundred km on her, the saddlebags started to crack. I think the plastic was a bit too thin, because I had them mounted really well. I stumbled across a set of vintage Honda saddlebags with mounting hardware, and picked them up... and they sat in the garage for the winter...

In the spring here, with everyone self distancing, I decided to video my progress on getting this bike on the road. Part of it was to have a project to alleviate some boredom, and part was for my Dad to be able to see what I’ve been doing. Here’s the progress so far...

This has been a fun way to spend an hour. Great work BTW. Keep it up. I might mention that the two filament turn signals are for the front ie a clearance light and a turn signal. The rear ones are one filament and act as turn signals only. They are to code as it is actually not OK in our country to show an amber light to the rear unless it is functioning as a turn signal. So use the single filament bulbs for the rear or it may not pass safety.
Having a good time watching your vids, don't be afraid to give more detail as to what you are doing in the fast forward sections as they too would be very instructional.

Did a little more work on the Oldwing... thanks Jonesz for the comments... I didn’t realize that rear orange running lights were illegal here, so I’ve learned something!

you would have to change to a red light to have them both be running and turn signals on the rear. Best if, like the front, when the turn signal is on, the running portion is not, so as make a more obvious "blink"

Rodger, I am pretty sure everywhere in Canada Eh? we have to have amber turn signals to meet code and safety requirements. I know in Manitoba to pass the "safety inspection" required before you can register the motorcycle it must have amber turn signals and they must function properly. They are not to be visible at the rear unless functioning as a turn signal. Folks have been known to do whatever after registering their vehicle but I don't know what that does to their liability should an accident occur. Just wanted the OP to be aware.
We have strict regulations here covering safety inspections for instance I have friends who have had their bike failed for reasons such as having LED lights rather than filament style installed or having a "cruise control " jam type throttle control. They had to be removed before passing the inspection. That being said, they then put the non-compliant equipment back on at a later date once the safety had been passed. I still don't know what happens to their government provided insurance if they are subsequently involved in an accident.

that is interesting. Here the rear turn signal lights can be either amber or red. And you are right in that insurance companies may very well find something as an excuse to not cover an "event".

We run into the same thing in medicine. A patient has a MVA and comes to me. Their regular health insurance will say it is the responsibility of the car insurance company.... same with a work injury.

Got the oil changed, coolant topped up, and took her out for a quick cruise tonight...

I’d like to thank the guys that posted about the rear signals... it’s something I didn’t know... I’ve never had to have these bikes inspected (in SK, they are registered as antiques/vintage)... and I don’t know about liability if you were in an accident and your bike signals weren’t up to code, but it’s good info to have! For now, my rear signals only light when the signal light is on, and that’s the plan for the set I’ll put on the hard bags...

Loved that video. Interesting how much different your landscape looks compared with over here.
This is early summer here, everything is very green.
