I tried really hard to keep the nice chromed OEM horns going on my '83. In the end it couldn't be done and I mounted this beast.

Hey y'all,
I'm sneaking up on painting Donna and would like to remove the catches on the side covers. How is the pin removed, and can it be re-used?

My instinct is to tap the pin out but it's surrounded by 46 year old plastic; yikes.

I have the Denali version of this. I tried to make it hidden (by separating/cutting it up) but it just didn't work out. It's CRAZY loud...

Soak the pin with a penetrant, compress the spring and the pin should come pot with slight persuasion.

Been a few years but I did order new side cover pins and keepers from Mother once upon a time. They can be a challenge to get out and still be reusable. Or at least they have to me!!

My buddy ordered one of these for his Valk trike. We hooked it up to a battery to try it out. What's that you say? My ears are still ringing! This thing has got to get your attention.

Should be able to find one at the hardware (or marine supply) store. It's just a roll pin. (I admit I've used cut-off and flattened pop-rivet nails in a pinch.) Can be pressed out with slip joint pliers. Pressing in requires compressing the spring, adding the washer, not scratching the new paint, standing on one leg while singing an aria and pressing in the new pin. Be inventive.

I ended up cutting the pins flush and driving the the hole clear on the bench. They were otherwise not budging.

That's the easy part. Getting it all back together without scratching the paint is the fun part. lolol
