Hey y'all,
I am still experiencing the clutch issues and after performing the free-play adjustment too many times, by the book and "fudging" the adjuster screw both ways, I have put this situation on the back burner for now. Maybe, she just needs exercise.
I've turned my focus onto the charging situation.
I've purchased a Shindengen FH020AA kit:
It's a little larger than the stock rectifier, so, i intend to mount it under the left side shelter. With the RLU by-passed/removed and the stock regulator removed, including their connectors, it should fit...should. It is my understanding (conjecture is more accurate) that the wires leading to the existing regulator and the existing rectifier, can be insulated and safely abandoned. Does that sound right?

The black wire from the Prestolite Ignition taps the black wire at the regulator connector. Existing rectifier and stator wire shown here:
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Mistakes may have been made. I won't know until I'm finished making them.
