But if I understand, the cable needs to be completely pulled out, sinc with need to noticeably shorten the outer cable without cutting into the inner cable…? Make sense?

yes. Pull inter cable out. Cut the outer cable so it can be clamped at the housing clamp with the outer cable clamped just at the end of it. Then install the inter cable. With the choke mecanizm in it's fully closed position, install the inter cable. Now when you pull the choke handle, it will move the inter cable, and the carb part to the closed position. If you are still confused send me your phone number, and we can discuss it

I will take you up on that - perhaps later in the week or toward the weekend when i can get back in my shop?

I did a successful solder on my test piece last night, but the biggest issue now is the sheathing is getting torn up in the process, and the ferrule doesnt wanna seat back on properly (and my attempts to re crimp it have been crude)

So….anyone have any thoughts on a paint color for this gal?

Thought about something root beer-ish would evoke the era she’s from

Also possibly a silvery gray kind of BMWish, but I already have a lot of gray going on with the engine.

?

Lately I have been really liking the blue grey colors. We are in the process of redoing our living room and went with a "Winter Lake" color from Benjamin Moore. Changes quite a bit depending on the lighting. Have already checked and the local paint store can make me up some spray bombs. I was thinking about it for my dresser but it might not be right for as much engine as you have showing.

I’m getting really exited. I’ve been working on it for two years plus - way more needed to be done than I realized when I bought it.

Just finished redoing the electrical, got that cx500 fender cut and installed with Lucas taillight, now it’s a matter of a little body work and paint, fabricate a gauge pod, and final tune up!

Build process slideshow forthcoming…

Sorry can't resist
The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."
Lucas is the patent holder for the short circuit.
Lucas - Inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas - Inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three position Lucas switch - Dim, Flicker and Off.
The Original Anti-Theft Device - Lucas Electrics.
>Lucas is an acronym for Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices
Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random frequency.
"I have had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never had any trou..."
If Lucas made guns, wars would not start.
A friend of mine told everybody he never had any electric problems with his Lucas equipment. Today he lives in the countryside, in a large manor with lots of friendly servants around him an an occasional ice cold shower...
Back in the 70's, Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which did not suck.
Q: Why do the British drink warm beer? A: Because Lucas makes their refrigerators
Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone.Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb. Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: Check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times clockwise around your car chanting:" Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant.."
