Some solid progress today - I snipped the mounting “wings” from my 1200 shelter and grafted them on to the 1100 shelter I’m using for this project via fiberglass. I’m pretty close. I sprayed a silver guide coat and have some more filling and shaping to do, but you get the idea.

I haven’t decided on front mounts for it yet.

Anybody got any ideas on a way to do front mounts for the shelter? i tried to add some fibreglass strips that would bolt onto the front mount points (similar to the way the 1200 standard did), but in practice it is difficult to get the angles right and get all attached from inside out.

the shelter is stable, but my concern is at hwy speed it may wanna bounce a little.

Fibreglass to the rescue again - I grafted in a tab on each side of the shelter to serve as a front mount.

Question for the minds - should I - A) paint the tabs the same colour as the shelter, or B) mask off and paint them black so they disappear into the frame?

Prime, fill, sand, repeat. Body work underway…

…also started working on a slideshow of the whole 2.5 year journey - stay tuned - the end is near!

At some point in the repeat, no fill will be necessary. Good progress and looking forward to the slide show.

Nice work. When I painted my 1500 and 1200, bought a lazy susan turntable. With the wood attached could put a part on for painting and spin it without having to put the gun down, worked well. Here's a pic:

Cut and buffed; body panels installed. For all intents, this project is done! I’ve got a small punch list including installing tank emblems, wiring tweaks and cleanup, and build out a new gauge pod so I can add a few extra instruments.

Some quick snapshots (working on a build video to be posted soon):
