This here is The NEXT Project.
There is a bit of history to this that goes back a few years.
Will fill in a bit over a few posts just to help all the insomniacs.

Looks like you have a couple of interesting evenings ahead of you! Look forward to your build and pics. Tried to enlarge the pic to read the serial # but no joy.

OK. Here we go now on a story to explain the history of this bike.
I am a member of the goldwingfacts.com forum and have been for quite a few years.
They hold an annual rally which is hosted by different members in different parts of the country,
and in 2014 an announcement was made that the 2015 event was to be hosted in South Carolina,
by my friend, and he Invited me along with a bunch of others to attend.
It was to be in September, so as my daughter is still at school the decision was made for me to travel over on my own.
There were 2 other couples from the UK and a couple from Sweden that were interested in attending,
I knew both of the UK couples being friends with both, but not the Swedish couple, but adventure loomed, and I could not resist.
I decided the best thing to do was to buy a bike to ride around, and afterwards ship it back home.

I figured the bike for me was a GL1000 LTD.
There was a thread on here about a bike being rebuilt: https://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic ... 30&t=52168
Around August 2014 the bike was ready for sale, and I put myself forward as a possible purchaser. Alas it was not to be, so the search continued.

He was being cautious, He owned the bike since 1982 and did not want to sell it to some whippersnapper to make a cafe racer out of it.
He had all the parts to put it back to stock, Seat, headlight and fixings, Fenders front and rear.
He said the bike was running, but not very well, he only occasionally started it up.
We had several telephone conversations and we agreed a deal.
He lived in Windsor, Ontario, and was set to retire in July 2015 and move to a house he had bought in Florida.
He was moving all his stuff down at that time, so I paid a deposit and the agreement was
that he would bring the bike down with him and drop it off in South Carolina at my friends place.
When the time came I sent the balance of the money over to my friend and he handed over the money when the bike arrived.

The bike duly arrived and was exactly as the seller described it to be.

The bike needed all the usual stuff done, tires, timing belts, oilchange and so on.
I sent my friend the money to get all the bits, so that when I got there the timing belts and oil and fluid changes would have been done.
His friend has a bike shop to do the work.
