OK, that is clutch slipping then. You said "slips out of gear". I was thinking it actually came out of gear.

Hi, I apologize for the perhaps stupid question, looking at the fourth photograph, but the one "resting" on the base, between the carburetors and the petrol tank, is an air filter ??

Yea. Rather than run a hose up to the air box and back down to the oil breather thingy by the center stand (which is always disgusting btw) I use a chrome breather filter.
Looks SO much better.
