82 Goldwing GL1100 Project

Post by hcgonzalez »

I'm just starting into a new project, 1982 GL1100 and using a 83 GL1100 as a donor parts bike. This is my second GL project. I completed a 77 GL1000 a few years back. I rode it around for a while then sold it. Always thought that I should have kept it. 4 bikes later I'm back to the GLs, love these bikes.

Well I got the motor striped down. Main & rod bearings have a good amount of wear but no bluing. Would like to replace all but cant find any. This was expected after reading many threads and articles on the internet. I'm holding back on reusing the old ones hoping for a Hail Mary. Please let me know if there are any sources out there that may have any.

So a couple of years and two car projects for my grandsons later, I'm back to working on my GL project. Motor is back in and I ran it for about 10 seconds. Wiring is 90% complete and the brake lines are run and bled.
