Thanks for that. Got the forks off and started painting them. Looking good so far but I’ll post pics when they’re done. On the left headlight mount I found this little speaker that works. Is it supposed to be some sort of warning sound? If so I don’t really want it and will sell it

Yup, turn signal buzzer. Lots of people trash it because it sounds annoying. I left mine because I legitimately forget my blinker's on at least once a ride.

(Fun fact- my CB750 K2 has a momentary switch that let's you mute the buzzer if you choose to.)

Thanks. Got the frame, drivehub, rear wheel, front forks, and the gas tank painted today. Pretty glad about how all turned out. I do need the socket size for the locknut on the front axle. Need to remove the right disc brake to paint.

Hook the speaker up to a separate switch to use when backing up. Drives the Harley guys crazy with jealousy.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I don’t think I can stand that speaker enough to do that. But my gaskets and started are showing up today. I just now realized I forgot to buy a clutch kit so are there any brands or websites that you guys prefer for clutch kits? I can’t make do with what I have. One of my discs is warped and all of my pads are below service limit

Check the PNM site or the GoldWing site, as they have the steel and fiber plates available. I have used their steels before on my 1976 GL1000 build and they were fine quality wise.
I always buy OEM Honda clutch springs though, as the aftermarket ones can be 10-20% stronger and not necessary IMO, just harder to pull the clutch lever.

Hondas OEM clutch spring # 95014-75140

California supplier I use sometimes. http://www.adeptpowersports.com/oem-par ... -part.html
Current Bikes:

1966 CL77 - Honda 305cc - Dual purpose - "Gentleman's Scrambler" was a period moniker.
1967 CL175K0 - Low production number with #802 engine serial- winter 2019/2020 full restoration.
1972 CB350F - Baby Four with low mileage - Cosmetic refresh to the next level 2021/2022.
1978 CB550K - Very original bike with only 7499 Km. from new - light cleanup and refresh done.
1983 CB1100F - Canadian model - DOHC Supersport in pristine low kilometre condition from new.
1984 GL1200 - Standard model in showroom condition - two owner bike from new.
1984 CX650E - Restored summer 2017 - a rare Eurosport model - excellent one owner bike.

For removing the front axle, do you guys have a socket that you make for the bearing retainer or should I just buy the tool? I found the tool online but there’s no size specification for it

In the process of putting everything back together, and I can’t get my cam pulleys set on the timing marks. Left side pulley for 2/4 is one tooth above the mark, and right side pulley for 1/3 is two teeth above the mark. I’ve completely unscrewed my valve adjustment screws to relieve any sort of added pressure there but the pulleys still snap back to this position. Do I need to put the tensioners and belts on, and with slack move the pulleys then apply tension on the belt?
Also, the crank is 90 degrees off tdc as suggested by the manual to avoid internal damage. All the cylinders are sitting even right now

First thing about backing out the valve lash adjuster screws. That activity doesn't completely reduce the valves lifted off their seat dimension and valve spring pressures.
That's why the camshaft pulleys are 'snapping back.' Compressed valve springs are the cause of 'snapping back.'

I slipped an old rubber membrane over the speaker, the one that goes into the master cylinder reservoir.
It muffles the sound to an acceptable level.

I’m trying to remove the stator and the manual doesn’t say anything but remove it. I also can’t find anything on this site about pulling the stator. If it’s just a matter of that center bolt how do I keep the stator in place to loosen the bolt?

Just loosen the three screws and it will come right out.
No need to worry about centering it.

I have the engine completely put back together. Although my workspace wasn’t exactly the cleanest. I want to try and get rid of anything that might have fallen in so I put 3.5 quarts of oil in and tried just manually turning the crank. If I were to Hotwire the starter just to get the oil pump really going, would that do much of anything or should I just wait until I’m ready to get the engine firing to do that. I also wanted to know what coolant is best to use in these engines. Mine only had water in the pipes
