Here's a not-so-great photo of the gusset on my '79. I think Pidjones has offered up one that's possibly a better reference if you're going to reinforce the frame you have.

got scrubbing on the 77 engine and it cleaned up pretty good, also blasted a few of the spots. Always hate trying to clean the grime in the groves on the bottom. Did the head covers and timing belt covers in powder coat silver (they look better in person). and black powder coat for the center stand. The center stand will also get hit with some frame black when I paint the two frames.

took the heads off the 77 engine and everything looked great, so powder coated a lot of small parts and repainted the engine. the 78 was painted a couple of years ago, and is sort of a cast aluminum look, so I will so a light top coat of rattle can engine paint that looks more OEM (a lot of dust on the 78 engine)

started sanding on the 77 frame. It is in remarkably good shape considering the age. rust in the spots you would expect, but not bad at all. Hit it also with "rust neutralizer" in the spots it was difficult to sand/wire brush. The 78 frame was sanded and primed when I took the bike apart about 3/4 years ago. I will sand down the red primer as it is on top of the self etching primer, helps to see the little divets and scratches. Also made up a high tech tool to get the bearing races out of the steering stem. I might add, while the engine was very low miles some PO did change the timing belts, but I still replaced them with new

so I think that would be a fair trade with Robin... what y'all think? I got the 77 carbs off ebay several years ago. I noticed a idle screw kit (in the OEM bag) in the plenum, As I took it apart found there was a missing idle screw. toehrwise they look pretty darn good.

yeah, I had to re split the plenum to get the choke linage correct I kept the two carbs together with the chrome piece so I didn't have to reassemble that. the bowls and plenum were powder coated, and I used engine paint on the tops.
