I will always remember the first time I saw the name of the thread, and laughed my backside off.
I found the end of the internet

Rest in Peace Cookie. As you know, this post will show up in many searches well into the future. so...

Hey, just to update: an occasional miss at idle that sometimes responds to choke usage can be one cylinder lean at idle. On my 1977 GL1000 cylinder 1 was occasionally missing just at idle, and 3/4 turn clockwise on the #1 carb idle mixture screw is all it took to eliminate it. Your mileage may vary.

Nothing wrong with that, so nice to have it preserved in this way.

I was struggling with the new belts on my NOS, never run engine, when out of the blue, a 12mm wrench fell off my little work stool without me being near...Odd, thought I, and next time I heaved myself off of my piece of cardboard I replaced it. Minutes later, as I again struggled with the stupid belts, the wrench fell off again! I thought, "Polterguist!" but left it on the floor...suddenly the belt went on with ease; all my marks lined up, and the belts tensioned properly....I think Cookie gave me a nudge in the right direction somehow; anyway, I thought of him at that moment, and it was good..............

I'm new here and didn't know Cookie, Brian's post reminded me of last year. I bought a cb750 drag bike that belonged to a friend that had passed. It was strange how it fell together, it had been heavily parted out of it's small bits since it lived in a bike shop. Every time I looked in the parts bin exactly what it needed was there and right on top. If I decided to change anything it was difficult but the original type went right on. The rolled rear rim that came on his old sandcast 750 was right there on the drag bike with it's two hole hub. Karma I guess, or Tom was helping me.

I know the feeling, we have one that sits on the front porch because there is no room in the garage. We could start a Goldwing Anonymous. Go for it, you will never really own it, just get to play with it for a time.
