Hotmail/ livemail issue

#1

Post by Whiskerfish »

Looks like Hotmail/ Livemail have decided that NGWCLUB is nothing but a huge bunch of spammers again

We will be working on it but know that most notification emails to those servers are being rejected right now.

That includes PM notifications, registration notifications, subscribed topic notifications.

I will post updates as we get them.

Roncar and I have scrubbed our program and can find nothing wrong on our end. I have filled out a "Deliverability Issue Submission" with MSN to hopefully get them started. After reviewing a bunch of similar problems on the Hotmail forums it looks like this is the only recourse but I do not expect anything to happen in a timely manner. MSN, Hotmail, Live etc etc are all free programs and their Customer Support is all but non-existent. From reading about this issue with other "Blocked IP's" I could easily see this going on for a week or more before they get anything done.

This is very frustrating for me and I can only imagine how frustrating it is for the membership. In the last 3 1/2 hours we have had 25 Emails rejected. Depending on how long this lasts I may be forced to shut down the email notification system just to keep the floods of rejections under control.

For New Registrations: If you are registering with a @live, @ msn or @ hotmail email account you will not receive your account activation email.

Once you have completed the registration process click on the "Contact Board Administration" on the upper right hand corner of the screen and fill that out. One of the admins will get your account manually activated.

Sorry to all for the BS Inconvenience.

Our first attempt to resolve this was with the automated system at msn. That has failed. The words they used were
The system found that the reported IP(s) are not eligible for automatic mitigation

So I just finished doing the removal submission that gets reviewed by Humans. Basically the difference between doing a 1040EZ and a itemized long form.

Anyway it is in their hands and now we wait to see if they need more info or what else we need to do so they can determine that our email is not spam.

I will continue to update as I get any info.

That may well be, but better a live body in Bangalore than a frigging computer program buried in a server somewhere in the bowels of the earth, lol!

Not sure what is going on but the rejected emails seemed to have stopped about 1 AM this morning.

They have changed us from Blocked to "Bot Like behavior" on the sender page so hopefully that will preclude any issues in the future.

Well it lasted a month and we are back on the spam listing again. Very Frustrating

From my last conversation with Hotmail

The IP 64.131.78.134 is blocked by Hotmail because Hotmail customers have reported emails from the IP as unwanted. One possible explanation for this is the automatic forwarding of unfiltered inbound messages, including unwanted messages, to Hotmail/MSN addresses.
So the first thing is that I am going to dump the "subscribed threads" table so anyone that is watching a particular thread will need to resubscribe. I think this is going to become a monthly maintenance requirement to keep the "unwanted" emails from happening.

Once that is done I will attempt to contact Hotmail again and see if we can resolve the issue.

You Live, msn, and hotmail users getting emails again??
Just FYI, I changed my account email to my live account yesterday, never got the reactivation email or any forum post notifications.
I just now went back in and changed it back to my Filipi.com email and got the reactivation email right away.

Yeup. I saw that Roady had manually activated you after the change so I did not take any action. Right now I am scanning all the rejected emails and forwarding all the account activations from my personal email. That is the only way I can keep things going. Just since Yesterday Morning we have 73 emails rejected from hotmail, msn, live accounts. I am not bothering with all the thread subscriptions and PM notifications but the Account activations I am forwarding.

The good news is that I think we finally hit the right combination with Verizon and got accepted to their white list. Their seemed to be a small block with them and it was only affecting a few members but I think that should be lifted now.

Still waiting on Hotmail to reply to my most recent query.

OK I think we finally got through their thick skulls that we were not spamming the world.

I think the block was lifted a couple of hours ago. If any of you Live, Hotmail , msn customers could let me know if you are receiving emails again I would appreciate it!!
