Thanks for the video and Hope your Friend heals quickly. Brings back memories of my crash . I already sent the Video link to my 18 year old that hasn't had the dis-pleasure of getting off a bike yet. He drives well and safely but kids will be kids and are all sure they are bullet proof

Vid ran real jumpy here, hard to see what happened, but I've done something horribly similar myself, on a 750 Dunstall-Suzy.

I hit a right at night, noticed the clock was reading 80+, thought "Oh shit, I'll never make it on this cold road (I had a passenger) so tried to lift the bike up and applied max braking, hoping to flip er over at the last nanosecond and go round on the kerbstones....I'd done this once before.

Didn't scrub off enough speed, or lay it over, and ploughed into an earth bank, narrowly missing a post.

I acted as airbag for my female passenger, but bust a fibula.

I guess I did slow down quite a lot, though!

If it happened now, I'd countersteer like crazy and make that sucker get round on the edge of the tread,or lowside it in the attempt. Back then I didn't know about countersteering.......

I also now take the racing line so go into right-handers well over to the left, so I can see what's coming, then clip the apex on the way out.

Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Am I wrong, or was his lean angle way too little? As a neophyt, appreciate input.
Seems like the cliff view may have taken his focus and straightened him up. Happens to me when I see marbles, but need to get over that as lowside seems like the better of the two and the less likely to result in a crash.

It happens to even very experienced riders. Just glad he is going to be OK. From the marks on his helmet this could have been a life changer for sure.

I still do not know what happened to me. however. the campers across the street told me that when they got there I had already taken my helmet off and when they asked me what happened. I told them i had fallen asleep (very unusual for me because I always stop for a drink if i feel even a tiny bit drowsy) I sure wish i knew what happened..

did he end up going to the hospital?

EDIT: i'd also like to add that it could have been a lot worse and i'm glad that he's ok. agatt pays off
