Yosemite ride..in a word, cold.

Post by rogue1000 »

We are just back from four days in Yosemite. I ended up trailering the hack, and I'm glad that I did. We made it through the snow storm and down into the valley where we proceded to set up the tent in the freezing rain..lot's of fun there...Luckily it stopped about two hours later, and got nicer every day and night afterward. It was too crowded to drive around much on the valley floor, but I did get away on Sat. towards Glacier Point, but the road was closed because of snow. Everyone in the family took a cruise in the hack around the valley floor, including the childbride and her diehard HD guy brother, who took some video from the sidecar that I will post asap...

I love that any GW that isn't modified instantly makes the "scenery" photo look like it was taken in the 70's.

Sounds like a good time!

Rodger, you remind me of that Johnny Cash song...."I been everywhere, done everything" at least I think that's how it goes... lolol . The videos my bro-in-law took were put up on facebook, but I haven't been able to get him to email them to me to put on this forum...oh well, it is not as if they're very exciting...

like the tumbleing tumble weed....

My dad worked for the city of San Francisco and the city had a "family camp" at Mather.... nearly all the summer workers were sons of city workers. And being in the boy scouts we did a lot of camping in northern California as well.

I left NYC to get away from the cold/snow/ice, but every year my lovely wife drags me up to the Tenaya Lodge. It's just outside the Fish Camp exit from Yosemite. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but for what it costs I could be basking in Costa Rica or someplace like that.......but you know what they say "Happy wife = Happy life" crossy.gif

Our troop used to go up to Lake Pillsbury (which is at the head of the Eel River) to a forest service campground. Also spent time at the council camp Ed Berra near Avery, that was before San Mateo council got the big camp down in the Santa Cruz montains. Never went to Philmont until 96 with my son
