Great trip. Nice video. Bon Iver and Trampeled by Turtles were my last two vinyl purchases. Perfect desolate highway music.

I did a similar trip last summer from the twin cities through glacier, yellowstone, bear tooth, big horns, and black hills.

It's always hard to come back after all that freedom. Kind of makes you rethink things and takes a bit to settle back in.

Here's my ride report.

Thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks. Sure was. About due for another but i went and bought a house and have been working on it ever since. No time for a proper bike ride this season. Did do a 1000 mile ride last weekend up to the porcupine mountains in Wisconsin and out to Copper Harbor in the U.P.

I'm in Minnesota and next year we're following the Mississippi down to the Gulf. Should be a good one.

Wow Mark, we had very similar trips. Also sounds like your girlfriend is a lot like my wife. I have learned to be very communicative when I am out riding. If my wife isn't happy, no ones happy, so I have learned there are just some things you must do her way.

I guess this can be moved into the ride reports forum, don't know how I missed that one or I wold have posted there.

Communication is great but you don't want to get carried away and end of with a headset!! :-D

I really like the focused peace that comes from the open road, the growl of the engine, and the howl of the wind.

Frequent rest stops are imperative for the ladies. I imagine it's a lot harder to switch your positioning around on the back without the security of having the bars to hang on too.

My girlfriend is finally getting comfortable with standing up now and again to flex her knees. She's also more comfortable with the small backrest that came with the hondaline rack and the skeepskin does wonders for the stock seat.

When you're camping as well a good air mattress is SUPER important. We used to use the thin self inflating pads but i sleep on my side and my hip and should would go right through it.

We now have Big Agnes pads that are fairly comfortable albeit a pain to inflate.

Headsets are definitely not for me - at least right now.

I have gotten used to riding distance with headphones underneath my helmet that is plugged into my GPS. That way I can listen to music, and it keeps me going the right direction.

For the air mattress I use my 12V hookup and use an electric pump. Makes it easier getting that thing inflated.
