So I took the old wing cross country, again.
This time we headed for Colorado. This trip was a little different, in that, we rode out with two other people on separate bikes and we stayed at one place, once we arrived in Breckenridge. There we met two more people from texas. Our group then, was six people on five bikes, with myself and my wife being the only ones riding double. Staying at one place allowed for lighter riding days while riding around the state. We saw a lot of mountains averaging about 200 miles per day. Took lots of pictures. The old wing ran flawless again. It was a bit sluggish and a little hesitant when we were at the high altitudes, but ran fine. We made it as high as 14,130 ft. I dont think anybody had great power up there. Had some trouble with the harleys that we rode out with. Nothing that left us stranded tho. will post some pics.

this is beautiful stuff Kwazy
thank you for taking the time to post it & tell the story
I read a book about the ring of depression era parks built at high altitude around Denver
The interesting thing was that all the eaqrthmoving and tunneling was done with steam power andthe high altitude was a real handicap, due to water boiling at lower temps at that altitude and building less pressure.
I wonder how much of mount Evans byway was built with steam power?

Re: So I took the old wing cross country, again.
mt evans road was quite interesting. parts of it reminded me of the show on discovery called Ice road truckers. when they were in india and south america on the mountain roads. even though it was paved, it was rough in spots, with big pot holes and parts of it eroded away because it was absolutely at the edge of the drop off. not a road for the faint of heart or people with the fear of heights. my wife has a fear of heights and did not ride with me on this ride.fish wrote:this is beautiful stuff Kwazy

there must be a story behind what looks like a bunch of stickers adorning the green information sign behind the bikes. Can you fill me in on that? I'd love to make a ride like that! Thanks for the pics!kwazydave wrote:the gang
