(part ll from a post in Club House)
Here are some shots of an impromptu journey I made recently. This trip in short was a triangle
from Spring, TX to Eastern New York to the Great Lakes and back to Texas. I covered a lot of ground, saw some sights and met some members on their home turf.
Saturday afternoon. The Condor in need of a fresh tread. She was last on the road last September and has to be on the road when the Sun comes up tomorrow.
Image
Sunday morning. On the road on I20 in LA. Just a jackhammer POS stretch of highway. Last time for me.(Welcome to Mississippi ahead)
Image
Sunday & Monday afternoons were searing hot. Taking a siesta under a tree in Mississippi.
Image
Had to take this shot. 2 Vespas in AL headed for PA tapped out at 61mph. Loaded down with extra fuel and camp gear. So no more excuses guys. LOL
Image
WV into PA, low clouds in the cool morning air. Nice relief from the heat
Image
Finally NY. With some extra riding hours Monday evening I arrived 6hrs. early Tuesday afternoon. I will spend a few days in the Orange County area. Get the oil changed and clean up and make my way west.
Image
Next, some pleasure riding across New York State.
If we can't fix it, we can fix it so no one else can.

After a night of pouring rain, it was back on the road. 17w will work quite nicely.
A construction site outside my motel left me with enough mud to start a garden.
Image
17w is dotted with dozens of little resort lakes. The Condor stopped here at Swan Lake for a bath (see what I did there?)
Image
A few hours passed and the skies cleared up. A chance to hit the ol' GoPro.
Image
Good peaceful riding with very little traffic. All day!
Image
A sign that said 'National Soaring Museum' in Elmira was enough for some more sight seeing. 'Soaring' is the name given for that which a Glider airplane does.
The grassy area on the left is the take off area...
Image
...before the glider is sent over the street and into this valley. One of the student instructors told me 'to go from 60' to 900' in 1 second in total silence is so awesome'. I'll take his word for it.
Image
On to Corning....

A trip on a bike is one thing, but a trip like this on a 38yr old bike is just awesome.

thanks guys
I didn't have to drive far from Elmira to see my first sign for Watkins Glen 23mi. The Sun was getting low
in the sky, but I couldn't risk loosing my Bro card. Off I went.
The track was closed for the night, but the man at the gate let me in..Score!!
Image
From there it was back to Corning for a room and a slice.
Motorcycle travel tip #8; If the motel doesn't let you park under the porta cochere. Move on.Image
On the highway from Corning. Destination Cleveland, Ohio. 46degF wearing rain clothes to keep warm. Is this June? The low clouds ahead are pockets of fog slowly burning off.

Image
I pulled into the town of Olean for a Gas & Go (and by go you know what I mean). Where I spotted this in
the park. Beware the danger of fast food!

That's great Rick. In the past I've passed up pictures of Americana like your Ronald McDonald whatever and I've come to regret it. After all I should be able to post a picture of the worlds tallest pheasant but I passed it up. :(

Thanks Dean, very kind. It's fun to see what other folks around the country do.
Let me say, when it comes to travel and photos...
You're the King. Your knowledge of roadways is remarkable,
and I've looked at your trips on my big screen TV.

Saturday 21st. We all took the morning off to go pick up Ernie (Polkadot) in Curtice to go
support our friend Jeff (Fred Camper) Bozman in Detroit. It was a wonderful service for Deb.
On the way back through Ernie picked up his magnificent '63 rag top Caddy. He and Rat cruized back in red leather style. With work completed for this session it was time for burgers, dogs, ears & beers. Did I say beer? Oh, yes I did.

Sunday morning, and it's on the road for Blues & Jazz, street noodles and cream puffs the size of your head! Thanks Al !

Sunday morning and it's off to Columbus, OH.
Hmm.. gauges are covered with bugs. Hmmm.. they kinda look like steel drums?!
Image
I followed Oldewing to his digs in Gahanna.
As our good luck would have it was the last day of the Blues & Jazz Festival
Image
While we were there Oldewing struck a deal for a club beer semi...We shall rally in style.
Image
4 big sound stages with awesome regional talent, a river walk, fantastic food and beer.
Image
On the way out Oldewing suggested I try a cream puff. Holy Cow!! Might this be the real reason I ride motorcycles?
Image
Back at the Jones' to wash up the Condor, kick back and chat and later some dinner. Thanks Greg for
tour of the town and the stay over.
Off to KY in the morning.....
