Ride and enjoy when you can!
Do you still have time for Highway One?
After a very nice summer-August week (at Tynningö) now it's all rain here :-(

Re: Coast to coast in the U.S.
....maybe highway one will have to wait until next time...
Yesterday we got up pretty early for being us... And pretty early for being in Vegas too... Around 9 am we set out for the Nevada Desert, and it was hot! Above 100 degrees and keeping an eye on the temp gauge we hit the road for the last stretch to Los Angeles of the coast to coast journey. No shade in sight but pouring in sweat after only about half an hour I had to pull over to buy water at a roadside market.. Unfortunatly it was closed, but wouldnt you believe one guy in a car just waited for us there, and started to hand us ice cold water bottles! "Yeah, i know how it is, i used to ride my motorcycle here, and it gets really hot"!
5 minutes later another guy pulls up next to us with a car on a trailer "yeah you know the clutch broke down 4 in the morning and I sat in the desert until 8 in the evening until they rescued me. I though i was done when i ran out of gas and the ac went out"!
We continued and tried to save the stops for the open markets... But we were counting every mile, because it was tough! Finally we made it to the finish line around 5 pm...
Relieved to have made it all the way from Brooklyn in a safe way, i was happy to get a steady handshake from Amandas father accompanied by a "congratulations". Her brother who is more of a race biker greeted us too while sceptically noticing the goldwing only has single caliper brakes!??
After that Amandas mother and a few friends treated us to one of the best tasting meals in a long, long time... Exhausted, but happy I once again experienced that great american hospitality that we could learn something from in Sweden...
So what to do in LA?
Well today the entire day was spent in the DMV, and finally we got real license plates! Its a California bike now!
One of these days at least I like to ride the Mullholland Drive before I head home. The pool is quite tempting too...

Re: Coast to coast in the U.S.
The ride of a lifetime. I've done a few, but it has been decades since I made a run more than 2 weeks or 2000 miles.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. Thank you for sharing the trip. Your dialog was thoroughly engaging and I found myself looking forward to updates on this thread every day to see what you two had been up to. I'm actually sad you're done!
Thanks again, mr west !!

Mr. West and and Amanda, you two are so inspiring with what you undertook.
It took guts and real courage and of course faith in your fellow man.
