Yeah, just ride it. These machines can take a lot of abuse. I've ridden them on two cylinders before. Say Hi to Dave and Frank and grab some pics if you stop there. Dave is a major sponsor of this site and a great guy.

Easy on us Canucks. Would have rather seen it won with in OT and sudden death, not a shoot out.

Have a safe and great ride down the coast. Did it in March 2015, great scenery.

Cheers

Hi!!

Turns out cyclesphyco is in Eugene. We may go back up there to have Dave work his magic. After speaking with him, we've determined it is the head gasket.

Does anyone know of a pontential gold wing mechanic south of Medford, Oregon??

Possibly Redding or Eureka??

Otherwise we may go back up to Eugene...

Thanks for all help and ideas! Dave sure was helpful over the phone, but he doesnt work on others bikes... after talking to some other mechanics too it seems its just gonna take too much time, and be too expensive to make sense. So we decide to just make a run for shortest way back to LA. Hopefully the bike will carry us back. It runs fine, but drinks coolant. Just have to try not to put load on it, easy on the wrist. If we arrive back in time I can take a look my self. I will need to read up on changing head gaskets, but for now I would appreciate any recommendations where to order a kit that includes everything I need? I guess a place that would take returns would be best if, god forbid, theres something else wrong, like a damaged cylinder wall....

Just a thought, but if yo are planning of driving it anyway, you might stop at an auto parts store, and get some stuff called block sealer. A liquid that goes in the coolant, and seals the bad area. Not the best way to do it, but will at least maybe slow it down. And, the the more you drive, the better it works. A number of different ones on the market, check with the counter people. Not a permeant fix, but might get you where your going

Yeah, STP makes that stuff. I have used it successfully on an old VW LT45.. not the best way to fix the problem, but at least step up from what I did to fix the radiator leak on my old Yamaha 125, two raw eggs in, and run it hot until it seals!

Im just worried that that the liquid might impair the cooling capacity if I fix it properly later? Have to think about this option...

Anyway, yesterday we started out from Reedsport. Rode 200 miles to spend the night close to Crater Lake. First 100 miles was ok, but the second 100, when we started to ride along the Upqua River things got really beautiful. One of Amandas favourite stretches ever!

We reached Union Creek Resort at sundown. Nice place!

Oregon really is beautiful!

At one point KG pulled over to take off his fleece and we happened to find a guy saving a baby duck! I guess it was lost and on the road so he sent carried it back to the river.
