#1

Post by DUGG »

I've been meaning to post this for days but been way too busy. I'm going to attempt to do a ride report and do it and somewhat real time. The wife and I are headed from Bellingham to Vashon Island for the weekend. Should be about 200 miles each way and will include three ferry boat. We will be leaving here from the house in about 15 to 20 minutes will post pics along the way

Real time posting seems to be not working out. We made good time from Bellingham down to the keystone/PortTownsend via Chuckanut drive to highway 20. Motorcycles get priority boarding but the guy in the booth said they were only taking 10 and we were number 11. They did find room for us at the back of the boat and we made it a across. We. Stopped in Port Townsend and got Mexican food and margaritas.

Leaving Port Townsend the weather had warmed up more and our vented gear didn't seem so, especially when had to stop. We headed south on hwy 20 then to hwy 19. After crossing the Hood canal bridge we turned south on hwy 3 traffic got heavy with a few back up through Bremerton. We headed on to hwy 16 to hwy 160. At this point it was time for break, the wife was overheating and the Gl needed gas and the rear brake lever was sticking. After some Gatorade and wd40 we were back on the road. We arrived at the Southworth ferry dock in time for the 4:10 to Vashon. But it was running late. Like forty minutes late. I left my iPhone on the bike and it over heated and had to cool it on an ice pack. The boat finally arrived and we were headed to Vashon, kind of. Apparently the 4:10 sails all the way to the main land and the back to Vashon. What should of been a fifteen minute crossing took an hour. So much for making good time. After stopping to stock up on beer and wine we made to our accommodations at 6 pm
