Left the hotel in Susanville Ca early this morning and it was nice. 54 degrees I think. About 10 miles down the road it dropped to like 35! So first rest stop I had to seriously add some layers. Anyway it was a beautiful ride through Northern Ca. on 44 and 89. Had to jam the brakes a couple times for critters (little bitty deer's out here) but so pretty. Just at Mt Shasta I got on I5 and started what I expected to be a boring slab run. Not the case if you are willing to turn up the wick. Dragging pegs at 85-90 mph is a riot on this bike. It seemed like every half mile there was a 50 mph curve and the 1800 was in her glory!!

After 160 miles I jumped off I5 and did the last 50 miles over toward the coast on a local road. Awesome riding day for sure. Everything was great till I turned on their road. The town had recently added about 4 inches of loose rock to the road and naturally it is on the side of a steep hill. The GPS was not real exact about which house I was going to so I took several detours which meant turning around and in a couple of places actually backing down the road, backing down a steep hill in loose gravel and having the front tire sliding when you try to milk the brake is enough to make me break out in a cold sweat!! There were 3 times in less than ten minutes that were even money on the bike going down. Fortunately that did not happen and I and the bike arrived in one piece. Maybe i should have bought a LOTTO Ticket today lolol lolol lolol

She has since been washed and put in a barn for a well deserved break

Anyway here are a couple pics of Mt Shasta in Northern Cal.

you are on the only section of I5 that is not boring in California. It is also fun going up over the pass into Oregon (pronounced or-a-gun not or-E-gone)

Took the better half for a quick ride along the coast. Started at Bandon and went up through Coos Bay and North Bend. A bit breezy and cool but all in all a nice day.
