The plan so far:

yes that is what I would do. I use https://www.jpcycles.com/motorcyclesuperstore but there are several to choose from. Tires typically only take a couple days to arrive.

Hi Hamster and all!

Now we are planning for some camping along the way and possibly doing the rockies again and then south after that.....

It might be a challenge to ride two up, fit camping gear, personal stuff for two people and of course our sitars.... but isnt that what a goldwing is for? Haha

Prices at JPcycles seems fair for tyres btw!

This place was an unexpected jewel on our trip late last summer. I highly recommend you spend a day or two here.

https://www.medorand.com/

Badlands in Theodore Roosevelt National Park and then you can spring for the Pitchfork Fondue and follow that with an easy walk across the parking lot to the Medora Musical. I guarantee you'll have a good time. Camping nearby in the national park and in private campgrounds as well. Tickets are easy to come by and you can buy them in town.

Really excited for this trip! And super happy to be back in the forum with all of our friends here!

I’m looking at our potential route now and we’ll probably do something like LA-> SF->Tahoe-> Colorado-> Taos-> Natchez Trace-> Smokeys-> Brooklyn

I’m also on the search for as many free campsites as we can find. I know they’re out there! We haven’t ever camped with the bike so this will be a new and exciting experience for us.

Looking forward to seeing out this all unfolds!

Update:
We now have Shinko Roadmasters, new tubes, oil, and filter waiting in LA.

Also Amanda bought as tent for 50 bucks that sounds promising. The plan is to camp for free for the most part, but still eat at restaurants.

Now we just need to find good cheap insurance for the bike that allows an additional driver...
