JENVEY TF 40mm Twin Throttle Bodies "Alberta Super Clipper"

Post by Casper »

They say idle hands are the Devils tools devil1 . I was not doing much today, other than keeping a close eye on my old dog who just came out of his third leg surgery in 4 months. He is in a full leg splint and all drugged up on Oxycodone. When he try's to stand up he mostly just falls over. My job is to be close by and try and catch him. Anyhow, I was online going through various NGW threads, and decided it was time for a major project, winter is coming. So I have started down the path to put a FI system on my 76. Basically I will be using 2 JENVEY 40mm TFs on top of Randakks Intake Manifolds (The Intakes where ordered today) The TFs are basically a FI throttle body replacement of a Weber IDF40, and have been used lots on cars. My plan, right now, is to use the MicroSquirt ECU system. Some fuel delivery components and the pico style injectors, I think I will source from JENVEY. With the standard carb rack and airbox gone, there is lots of room in the trunk for the other required subsystems. I think I am OK on power to run the system, I will switch all lights to LEDs to lessen the load. The MicroSquirt support site seems to be very active, so I think I can get some support from folks who have put that particular ECU to use. So lots of work ahead for Casper. I will post as often as I can, with pictures, once the big parts start arriving.

I am rooting for this.

If my ultimate goal wasnt forced induction this is what i would be using...good luck

Make sure you get high impedance injectors for the microsquirt so you dont have to worry about adding resistors

Yes, in looking at the MicroSquirt's specifications I noted the limits on the Injector's electric power. Hey icb, I very much appreciate the input, as there are going to be issues along the way that I will indeed miss, and support from this group will be very important to the projects timely success.

Sounds like a plan. Any estimates on parts prices?

My guess is in the order of $2,000+, for the parts. The big ticket fixed costs are the Manifolds at 300, the Throttle Bodies at 700, and the MicroSquirt ECU at about 400. On top of that you have the 4 Injectors (which can get pricey), the required sensors (not priced too bad), along with all the fuel supply system components(not priced too bad either). So no real way to justify it, other than it will be fun. I also love the look of gregforesi's White Trash. This will end up like that, not sure yet what I will do on the intake Air Horns just yet. The 40mm ones from JENVEY are all short. Maybe with one of those new fangled 3D printers one could custom make an Air Horn intake system?? While I am leaning towards the MicroSquirt, I am still looking at other ECU options.
