Re: GL1100 Cheap E-Z Single Carb Conversion
Looks like fun! I still have a foot and a half of snow in my yard, and our high yesterday was in the mid-20's! I hope to have my '77 at least close to being ready to ride when riding weather finally gets here, but progress has been slow over the winter. I have a wood stove in the garage, which makes working out there on my days off possible, but not pleasant. I want to thank you again for posting your single carb mods. My copy of your design seems to work well, although I did have to switch to a 122.5 main jet. The stock jetting was way too rich in my application. Maybe because of 100 cc's less displacement, or maybe because the '75-'77 cams.

Re: GL1100 Cheap E-Z Single Carb Conversion
I am unable to post images of our trip, but both bikes made 1200 mile round trip without a hitch. Single carb 81 uses a touch more gas than the stock 82. We had a blast in spite of the floods.

Re: GL1100 Cheap E-Z Single Carb Conversion
I have not posted here for a while, camping out at Classic Goldwings, more single people there. Just thought I would give an update on our bikes. We took three long trips last year and the only problem came from the stock 82 hydo-locking at Beavers Bend, and on the Talimena Trail. I decided to convert the 82 to the VW34-3 carb with the PVC Manifold.

Re: GL1100 Cheap E-Z Single Carb Conversion
Hey guys. So I just built this intake manifold one weekend for something to do while waiting for other parts. Went together great and I don't think I have $15 invested in it. Only problem I'm having is I used my 1200 carb elbows because they fit the head better but didn't take into account the extra height I would have because of them. Air filter clears the shelter no problem but the idle air cutoff valve on the side of the carb hits the frame at the rear. I took the valve down to my favorite hardware and couldn't find the correct thread size for the life of me. Does anybody know what size it is?
